Sherman

Sweet senior hound Sherman arrived at Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, NC with an unknown history and various health issues. It was obvious to staff that Sherman had suffered severe neglect.

He was underweight, heartworm positive, had chipped teeth, and quite a few masses on his legs and sides. Brother Wolf uses funds from a Grey Muzzle grant to provide veterinary care and testing to senior dogs at their shelter. The medical team immediately started Sherman on a healthy re-feeding plan, provided heartworm treatment, and checked his teeth and masses.

Emely

Emely, an 11-year-old Chipoo, was brought to Mercy Crusade in Oxnard, CA when she developed a concerning mammary mass that needed to be examined by a veterinarian. Mercy Crusade is a non-profit low-cost vet clinic that focuses on providing spay and neuter services for their community. Many pet guardians are unaware that non-spayed female dogs are more than four times more likely to develop mammary tumors than dogs spayed before age two. Of those, half will be cancerous.
