Sammi
A medical expense grant awarded to Safe Harbor Lab Rescue from The Grey Muzzle Organization enabled Kristina and Derek to add ten-year-old Sammi to their family. This lovely black Lab girl is simply thrilled to have found such a wonderful, loving home!
Wiley
Wiley was a stray who had been severely neglected. A grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, made possible by our wonderful donors, helped Safe Harbor Lab Rescue pay for the medical care needed to prepare him for adoption. And adopted he was!
Kumal
The report from the shelter was extremely grim—not only was Kumal more than 11 years old, he reportedly had a very serious spinal injury, had difficulty getting up and walking, and clearly was coping with a troubling neurological deficit.
Millie Maple
You’d never know it to look at her shining coat today, but sweet senior Millie Maple arrived at St. Louis Senior Dog Project (STLSDP) with mange.
Statler and Waldorf
Adorable senior muppets Statler and Waldorf are a bonded pair, becoming homeless after their owner passed away.
Helen
Helen is a beautiful blind senior gal who arrived at Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) with a serious case of pseudomonas in her right ear. Thanks to our generous Grey Muzzle donors, we were able to provide CBHR with a medical grant to help homeless senior dogs get adopted.
Honoring Spencer’s Memory
B.B. made a donation in honor of beloved Spencer. Here’s what she said about why she donated to The Grey Muzzle Organization.
Karen and Vicki
Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, they depart to teach us about loss. A new dog never replaces an old dog, it merely expands the heart. If you have loved many dogs, your heart is very big.
Kathy
I will always be grateful to Zoe for bringing two very special people into my life. She was a sweet and dear soul who I will never forget. Although I never knew Dewey, I have no doubt he was dearly loved and cherished as well .
Tyra
Sometimes dogs that are clearly not Golden Retrievers end up at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR), as was the case with the adorable, tiny Border Collie mix, 12-year-old Tyra. Tyra’s much-loved mom had to move to an assisted living facility, and Tyra ended up in a shelter the day before Thanksgiving.
Cowboy
Cowboy arrived at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) as a stray, with his roughly 10-year-old arthritic frame carrying lots of extra weight.
Lola
Lola is the poster child for spaying and neutering. She came to Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) as an overweight nine-year-old with a life-threatening Pyometra infection. Her family couldn’t afford surgery and relinquished her.
Baron
Beautiful Baron suffered eight years of neglect and cruelty before being seized by the authorities.
Hope
Hope is one appropriately named dog! The nine-ish stray girl arrived at Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies (GRRR) in horrible condition. She was emaciated, hairless, and covered in sarcoptic mange. If that weren’t bad enough, she was discovered to be heartworm positive.
The Power of Volunteering: Grouchy Puppy by Sharon Castellanos
The award-winning Grouchy Puppy® dog blog was founded over five years ago by Sharon Castellanos. Sharon writes, "Grouchy Puppy is about showing how the positive influence of the human-animal bond is demonstrated by dogs and those who love them. It's purpose is to elevate the conversation about dog adoption and senior dogs, and to influence, and change tired, antiquated beliefs." In this piece, Sharon shares her powerful and touching experience volunteering for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, one of our Grey Muzzle grantees.
