    Animal League of Gaston County
    Funded in 2024

The Grey Muzzle grant will cover dental cleanings and other necessary dental care for 35 to 40 owned senior dogs. Animal League of Gaston County (ALGC) will make funds available to clients who receive public assistance, reducing the out-of-pocket cost of their senior dogs’ pre-dental bloodwork, cleaning, and any extractions needed.

Founded in 2002, ALGC promotes companion animal welfare in the community through advocacy, education, and service. A dream of its founding members was to open a spay/neuter clinic within ten years. Seven years later, ALGC opened the Gaston Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic. In 2017, the clinic relocated to a new facility, allowing ALGC to increase spay/neuter surgeries performed. In 2020, it opened a small wellness clinic, which has provided nearly 15,000 appointments for low-cost veterinary and dental services. No other clinic or hospital offers low-cost services in Gaston or the neighboring Lincoln, Cleveland, and York counties.
