The Humane Society of Central Oregon (HSCO) received Zena from an individual with too many dogs. When she arrived at the shelter, it was discovered she had large cysts on her chest and left hip. She was also quite overweight and possibly suffering from arthritis in her knees. Thankfully, the cysts were benign and the medical staff prescribed diet and exercise to help lose weight and ease the pain in her joints.
Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, Zena got all of the medical care she needed while awaiting her forever home at HSCO. They were even able to subsidize her adoption fee. After one month, Zena found an incredible home.
Her new dad sent a follow up note to HSCO. He said, “I thought you said she was a 13-year-old senior! She chases my little guy around the living room. I love her.”
