Love is blind and Penelope would agree. This sweet, 15-year-old Shih Tzu found herself at a shelter in New York because her family could no longer care for her. She needed both of her eyes removed due to untreated issues, and the cost of treatment and time to heal were both too much for the shelter to handle. Thankfully, Penelope ended up in the care of Louie’s Legacy, one of the largest foster-based rescues in the country with roots in Ohio and New York.
A two-time Grey Muzzle grantee, Louie’s Legacy had no problem rescuing Penelope and giving her all the necessary medical care she had gone without. After treatment, recovery and TLC, Penelope is finally ready to find a retirement home to spend the rest of her years knowing comfort and love.
