    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant
    Organization

Fourteen-year-old Foxy was picked up as a stray in Virginia. She arrived at Richmond Animal League (RAL) with severely matted fur, cloudy eyes and a tongue that stuck out the side of her mouth.

Thanks to The Grey Muzzle Organization, RAL can provide a more extensive "Senior Screening" upon intake. Diagnostic tests like a blood panel, general health profile, urinalysis, and thyroid test might identify senior pet medical needs (or not) quicker and reduce apprehension about adopting a senior dog.

At the same time Foxy was receiving her care, RAL reached out to a previous adopter to see if she was interested in Foxy. This previous adopter had recently lost a senior dog very similar to Foxy. She was interested, but her heart needed to know a little more about Foxy's condition and how much time she might have left.

Knowing more about Foxy's health status and minor medical needs gave her the confidence to adopt, and Foxy is now settled in her forever home.
