Those of us who have lost a pet know the heartache that comes with it. This past year, the pandemic has exacerbated that pain.

Daisy, an eight-year-old Chihuahua mix, arrived at PAWS Atlanta just before Christmas. And while most staff thought she'd spend the holidays at the shelter, PAWS' executive director Joe had a plan.

When he saw adorable Daisy, he knew the perfect person for her. Kathy is one of PAWS' most ardent supporters, and she had recently lost her beloved poodle.

Joe called Kathy to see if she might foster and she said yes without hesitation. He brought Daisy to meet Kathy just hours later so neither of them had to spend Christmas Eve alone.

It did not take long at all for Kathy to determine that Daisy was not a foster pup but a family member. PAWS Atlanta knows that sweet Daisy will have the absolute best retirement possible. Kathy and Daisy have so much love to give. Together, they are the perfect team to spread compassion and kindness to animals and people everywhere. And now, instead of signing her name Kathy at the end of text messages or emails, she signs: Love, Kathy and Daisy.

Thanks to a Grey Muzzle grant, Daisy got all the medical care she needed, including a dental where she lost all of her teeth, to prepare her for her forever home.
