Meadows was transferred to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) prior to Hurricane Harvey making landfall, along with several other dogs to make room for those displaced during the disaster.
This little lady (only four pounds!) was VERY fearful when she arrived at the ARL. She would turn her back to the staff and growl when they approached her. They quickly found out that Meadows was comforted by blankets and LOVES to curl up in them...a whole pile of them! She has since warmed up to the staff and is currently getting some real room time in one of the staff member's office. Currently, ARL is waiting on blood work and other test results for Meadows. They already know that she will need a major dental prior to being available for adoption.
Thanks to your support, ARL received an emergency assistance grant on top of their regular medical expense grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization and was able to help several additional senior dogs like Meadows transferred from Texas and Florida ahead of the storms.
