Kelly

    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant

Meet Kelly, a 14-year-old Yorkie mix that was found as a stray on the streets of Brooklyn by the Animal Care Center (ACC). Kelly was a high risk for euthanasia because of her age and advanced medical problems. Thankfully, Little Shelter Animal Rescue did not hesitate to take in this sweet girl and help her.

Kelly had a host of health problems - an enlarged liver, chronic kidney disease, severe dental issues and she was severely malnourished. She is deaf, has cataracts and is partially blind. So, she’s basically perfect! Kelly underwent tons of medical procedures and tests, including a chest x-ray, several specialized blood tests, a liver abdominal sonogram and an ultrasound cytology (looking at small groups of cells). Thanks to a grant from Grey Muzzle, Little Shelter was able to provide her all the care she needed, no problem.

Kelly hasn’t let her age or health problems get her down. She is a sweet, extremely affectionate, active girl. This cutie-patootie senior loves her walks and spending time on everyone’s lap. Kelly becomes very vocal when it is time to eat - she likes to remind her people when it is mealtime. The staff and volunteers fell in love with Kelly and her little quirks while she was there, but are happy she found her forever home. Little Shelter is so grateful to be a Grey Muzzle grant recipient to help more dogs like Kelly.
