Peak Lab Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that saves Labradors and Lab Mixes from abandonment and high-kill shelters in North Carolina. Our organization is foster-based. This means they do not have a physical facility. They place their Labs in caring foster homes where they can practice the skills needed to become successful family members.

Their Vision is to see every Lab in North Carolina in a happy home where they receive love, shelter, food, water, and regular veterinary care.

How we help:

A grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization will help Peak Lab Rescue's "Labs 4 Life" program. The goal of this program is to end homelessness and improve the lives of senior Labs and Lab mixes in the service area. Funding helps PLR identify, pull, and transport these animals from high-kill shelters. Because of age and the resultant medical issues, senior Labs face a high rate of euthanasia. This program offers these dogs a chance to live their remaining years with a loving family and educates the public about the benefits and joys of adopting or fostering a senior Lab.

Behavioral training, adaptive equipment, and medical treatment is provided that will allow owners to keep their pet in their existing home for the duration of their life. The program targets responsible owners who are either financially or physically unable to care for their beloved senior Lab because we know that finding a way to allow these animals to stay with their family is often a better solution for all involved.
