We received the following story from the Community Pet Center in rural North Carolina, as part of their grant report detailing how they used their Grey Muzzle funding.
Chester, a tan, black and beige Yorkie, was one of the worst cruelty cases I have witnessed at the Rutherford County Animal Control Facility. He was picked up by an Animal Control Officer who received a call from a woman who said the dog had just wandered up to her house and she had him chained to her front porch.
He was put in a small cage with little hope of being adopted. He had lost most of his hair, had toes nails that reminded the volunteers of Chinese talons, and had severe cataracts and infections in both eyes.
