Board News: Welcome Kelley and Katie!

The Grey Muzzle Board of Directors is thrilled to announce the addition of Kelley Durham and Katie Parker to our board.  Kelley will step into the role of Fundraising Chair and Katie will take over the Grants Chair role, recently opened with the stepping down of Renee Boothroyd.

Kelley Durham is an animal welfare professional with experience as executive director of such organizations as the Brazos Animal Shelter in Bryan, Texas, and Second Chance Center for Animals in Flagstaff, Arizona.  She is a Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA), a designation earned from the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators (SAWA).  Kelley is also active in SAWA on the international conference committee. She frequently provides consulting services for animal welfare and nonprofit organizations.  Recently, Kelley earned her Masters of Nonprofit Administration from Notre Dame. She has a passion for dog training with over 13 years of experience and has earned her certification in dog training from the American Behavior College.  She makes her home with her husband, Jeff, and their four senior dogs and one senior cat in College Station, Texas, where, Kelley says, the cat has established himself as ruler of the roost.

Katie Parker has worked in the animal welfare field for 7 years. She began her career working in animal shelters and has worked as an animal welfare inspector with the Colorado State Veterinarian’s office. Currently, Katie works for a grant-making organization funding animal welfare efforts throughout the state of Colorado. Katie was an officer in the Air Force before getting involved in animal welfare and attended the U.S. Air Force Academy.  Katie is a Denver native and lives there with her amazing husband Eric. They feel lucky to share their home with a menagerie of shelter dogs and cats, and Eric’s saltwater fish. Outside of work, Katie enjoys cooking, gardening, yard work, playing with the dogs in the yard, and watching movies.

Both Kelley and Katie bring many years of animal welfare experience with them and we are thrilled to have them on the Board.
