"Both vets are recommending surgery... and I don't know what to do. I'm sorry for reaching out and asking for help, but I'm scared, and I know I can't let my furbaby suffer. But I don't know what to do, as I have my own medical bills… I'm used to helping others and their fur babies, so it's a hard one for me to swallow."

As a veterinary technician, Lamiya had dedicated her life to helping pets heal. But when her own pup, Baylee, suffered a major medical issue, Lamiya didn't know where to turn for help.

Nine-year-old Baylee was in a local emergency veterinary hospital where she had been diagnosed with an infection and a mass on her right lung. A CT scan and surgery were necessary to save Baylee's life, but the estimate was over $8,000.

At the time, Lamiya was out of work and awaiting back surgery after getting injured on the job. She reached out to Peace of Mind Dog Rescue in a desperate email pleading for assistance.

Thanks to your generosity, grant funding from The Grey Muzzle Organization was available as a resource to POMDR as they collaborated with financial assistance organizations to find help fast. With your help, Baylee was able to get lifesaving surgery!

Baylee is happily at home where she belongs. And Lamiya was so appreciative of the help with Baylee's surgery that she offered to start volunteering with POMDR when she's recovered too.
