Helping homeless senior dogs
We
envision a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.
The Grey Muzzle Organization improves the lives of old dogs who have
been abandoned or left homeless by helping animal shelters, rescue
groups, and sanctuaries around the country build adoption and hospice
programs for the special needs of senior dogs.
We believe that old dogs have much to teach us about patience,
respect, responsibility, and loyalty.
We believe that dogs with only a few years, months, weeks, or even days left deserve a place to finish their lives where they are loved and cared for.
We believe in humane euthanasia when a dog's quality of life has deteriorated. While recognizing that the decision is always difficult, we believe that dogs depend on us to care for them through all stages of their lives.
If they have a week, if they have a month, does it really matter? If you treat them with kindness and respect, and give them a cushy bed, they'll love you for it.

Rosie is a unique little dog, quite old but we don't know how old, who was picked up as a stray by a very small shelter on an army base. They turned to OldDog Haven for help. At only 15 pounds, Rosie was very frail when the OldDog Haven foster home took her in. She had very little muscle mass in her legs, but this didn’t stop her from scampering and leaping when the mood struck her! After regaining weight and strength in her foster home, Rosie was adopted by a wonderful family with another little dog that looked, amazingly, almost exactly like her. |
The Grey Muzzle Organization encourages senior dog adoption programs like the one that helped Rosie find her final home.
