    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant
    Organization

Thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, Knox PAWS (Placing Animals with Seniors), a program of the Knoxville-Knox County Council on Aging, helped match Vickie and Tinker and provided Tinker with critical medical care.

Vickie had grown up with dogs and had two dogs that both passed within a month of each other. She decided she really couldn’t afford the costs associated with owning another dog but had fallen into a depression not having a companion to spend time with each day. When she heard about Knox PAWS, she called to see if we could help her get another dog and that is when she was matched with Tinker, available for adoption at a local shelter.

The two have been inseparable ever since they first met. Shortly after finding each other, Vickie called Knox PAWS to say she felt a lump on Tinker and that his teeth seemed to be bothering him. Knox PAWS contacted one of their volunteers to help Vickie and Tinker get to one of their partner vets.

The vet discovered that Tinker had two tumors that needed to be removed and needed to do a dental cleaning. Grey Muzzle funds helped with the tumor removals and the dental cleaning as well as blood work to make sure Tinker was okay. Everything turned out fine and Tinker goes in for regular check ups to be sure he stays healthy.

Vickie was so appreciative of finding her new companion and all the assistance she's received from Know PAWS to keep him healthy and happy. The human-animal bond is so powerful and Grey Muzzle is thrilled to have played a role in giving Vickie and Tinker the love and companionship they both wanted and needed.
