Rita Sue

    How Grey Muzzle Helped
    Medical Expense Grant

This eight-year-old girl has been through some stuff. Rita Sue was transferred to the Leon County Humane Society (LCHS) in Tallahassee, FL, after she was rescued from an organized dog fight ring last year.

Upon her arrival, she impressed LCHS staff with her behavior. Rita Sue is gentle with other dogs and eager to socialize and play with them. She is full of energy and, while a little unsure of herself, she comes around quickly to new people. Her foster mom said ofRita Sue, "she loves to play with toys and be by your side."

In addition to a general medical exam, vaccinations and treatment provided to all dogs entering the care of LCHS, Rita Sue received additional tests and medical care thanks to a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization. Because of her age and years of neglect, Rita Sue is on joint supplements and pain medication as she suffers from arthritis. The funds from Grey Muzzle make her treatment possible.

We're happy to report that after sometime recuperating in foster care, both medically and emotionally, Rita Sue found a loving, happy home. From this point on, every person she charms with her sweet disposition will likely view Rita Sue as an advocate not only for senior dogs, but also for the most misunderstood and abused breed in the country.
