In honor of Adopt a Senior Pet month, The Grey Muzzle Organization is taking an untraditional approach to the typical dog walk. Rather than requiring participants to lace up sneakers and walk a few miles, the organization is hosting an online Virtual Old Dog Walk.

The latest issue of the magazine Rally to Rescue® provides a great behind-the-scenes look at how Grey Muzzle grants are having a big impact in the lives of homeless senior dogs around the country. The article The Virtues of Grey Muzzle features an interview with our founder and president, Julie Dudley, and stories and photos from three rescue organizations we have helped—the Senior Dog Sanctuary in Cleveland, German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California, and the Cumberland County SPCA of Vineland, New Jersey.

Daley was a super gardening helper—he was always the first to volunteer to taste the fruits and vegetables and if you needed a hole to be dug, well, he was your dog! Daley was also an excellent design consultant, offering his opinion (by way of sniffs) on what should go together when I potted flowers and succulents.

From August 30 through September 15, Grey Muzzle supporters and site shoppers can purchase from the online bookstore and specify a custom inscription handwritten by the author

The Grey Muzzle Organization has partnered with author Harold Creel to help address a casualty of the economic downturn: old dogs that are being separated from their owners who can no longer afford their food and medical care.
 

The Grey Muzzle Organization has partnered with author Harold Creel to help address a casualty of the economic downturn: old dogs that are being separated from their owners who can no longer afford their food and medical care. Through the sale of Creel's book, Do Old Dogs Dream?, Grey Muzzle is looking to make additional grants for community programs that provide food and medical assistance to help keep old dogs with their owners and out of animal shelters.
