Shadow

How we helped: Medical expense grant for adoptable dogs
Date: November 15, 2012
Organization: Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue

A true "grey muzzle," sweet Shadow is a 10-year-old Labrador Retriever ready for a new forever home. But don’t let the grey fool you! Shadow is full of energy and loves to play, with a renewed lease on life after Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue in San Diego, California, rescued her from a Los Angeles animal shelter after her family had given her up for unknown reasons. She appeared to be well cared for and by all accounts, she’s absolutely the sweetest dog, making friends with everyone.

Thanks to a grant from Grey Muzzle, Shadow went through a complete vet health check with routine blood work and preventative care. Now settled into a foster home, Shadow is in great shape for her age, with healthy teeth and a silky coat. The winsome senior has proved to be a whiz at basic commands, loves to go for walks and rides in the car, and occasionally pauses for her beauty sleep—she knows the value of a good nap! She sleeps in a crate at night and waits politely at the back door to be asked inside. Shadow loves giving kisses and taking treats from children and thrives on playing with other dogs, like the lively male Lab brother in her foster home. She’s not above giving him wet kisses on his face either! This girl has lots of love left to give in her golden years. Grey Muzzle was happy to help make that possible.

Happy Ending Alert! (November 26): Shadow was adopted by a wonderful couple who adore her. She lives near the beach and will go to work with her new mom each day. It's inspiring that so many people love seniors as much as we do. Labradors and Friends thanks Grey Muzzle for its part in helping Shadow find a forever home.
