    How Grey Muzzle Helped
Medical expense grant for adoptable dogs

11-year-old Vera had been waiting in a kennel for adoption for two years, yet no adoption group was able to take her. Greyhound Pets of America-Wisconsin stepped up to help Vera and her old friend NickyNack. Vera had 24 puppies and they felt she was at risk of never getting into a home environment since she had already been waiting such a long time! Vera came off the Greyhound hauler truck and went straight to a foster home after living in a kennel environment for 11 years. As you can see, she is now quite comfortable! Grey Muzzle helped pay for Vera's dental cleaning--28 teeth removed.  The veterinarian said in 20 years of doing dental cleanings, he'd never seen a dog whose condition was this bad. In GPA's program, she is receiving additional medical care and love from her foster family until she is adopted.

Vera has found her forever home!  GPA-WI tells us:  "Vera is doing well ... though she was diagnosed with cancer and had some lumps removed, she seems to be holding her own and really enjoying her retirement also.  She was recently at our fundraiser in October and entered the oldest dog contest.  I don't know if she won or not but for her age, she looks remarkable.  Her family adores her."
