Renée Boothroyd

Title: Vice President and Secretary

Email: reneeb@greymuzzle.org

Renée directs program development and evaluation for Peers for Progress, a program at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill that examines the practical and social role of peer support to help people manage chronic disease. But her true passion is animal welfare. In Rhode Island, South Carolina, Kansas, Maryland, and now North Carolina, Renée has adopted numerous cats and dogs, and volunteered and worked with various companion and farm animal rescue organizations. Her commitment to senior dogs comes first from Pele, her best boy and best friend of almost 13 years, who taught her about really living in each moment; and second from Emmet Otter, a sweet old-soul from puppyhood to the age of 10 when cancer took him too soon. With Grey Muzzle, Renée is applying her experience in health education, coalition building, grant-making and management, technical assistance, and evaluation for making life-changing differences in the lives of older dogs. She and Andre share their home with both a canine pack and multiple feline royalties - all rescues.
